Automation Newsletter Short Circuit Current RatingsStandards and codes shouldn’t be a barrier to success. Understanding key standards can help OEMs and panel builders stay in compliance and boost competitiveness. Machine builders should be familiar with standards such as (1) UL 508A, Standard for Industrial Control Panels; (2) NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, NEC®; and (3) NFPA 79, Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery. This article discusses how North American electrical standards have been evolving and how they are harmonizing with global standards.

Automation Newsletter Smart ManufacturingSmart manufacturing is not a moment in time, and standards related to the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) are still emerging. There may very well be years and years until the associated standards reach an ideal state.  This article talks about the transition, phases, application, devices and overall strategies. Don’t wait for standards before moving closer to smart manufacturing, the time to start is now. Learn about how to facilitate change that matters today

Automation Newsletter Process FlexibilityThe business of bread-making can be complicated. This is a great food & beverage success story. Learn about a bakery that went from an outdated, proprietary batch system to a flexible system with visualization, analysis and a reporting portal. This post gets into batch management, recipes, cycle time, programming and scalability. Note the ROI, the end user achieved a return on investment in one year.
