PowerFlex 525 AC Drives feature an innovative, modular design to support fast and easy installation and configuration. They are ideal for applications such as conveyors, fans, pumps, and mixers. **NEW** One of the unique technical features of PowerFlex 525 AC Drives is permanent magnet motor control to help improve energy efficiency and reduce related costs. Learn more about this family of drives

Compact, Cost-Effective and Ready for The Connected Enterprise. Capable of measuring pressure of liquid or gases, the new Allen-Bradley® Solid-State 836P Pressure Sensors are available in display and non-display models in rugged, compact housings with corrosion- resistant 316L solid-state sensor elements.

Bulletin 800K Piezoelectric Push Buttons are available in 22.5 and 30.5 mm sizes. These push buttons use a potted piezoelectric circuit in an SAE grade 316 stainless-steel body to achieve an IP69K rating. The piezoelectric circuit detects pressure on the surface of the button to provide a momentary actuation signal with no moving parts.

ControlLogix® 5580 Controllers provide increased performance, capacity, productivity, and security to help meet the growing demands of smart machines and equipment for manufacturing. If you are using 5580 Controllers, check out the 1756 Slim Power Supply option for series B and C standard and 1756 XT Chassis, which offers a 29% reduction in width when space is limited.

Section 2). Automation & Pneumatics Applications

The JXC91 from SMC is a single axis controller for LE series 24VDC step motor actuators, and is compatible with Ethernet/IP DLR fieldbus. Actuators can be operated directly over the network. Further Ethernet/IP capable functions include return to origin, alarm outputs and resets, parameter setup, status monitoring, and trial runs. This tool allows you to configure the controller to your exact needs.

Applications such as bulk chemical distribution systems, hot chemical wet bench, and chemical mechanical planarization require minimizing both particulate and chemical contamination. For users with the most demanding requirements, SMC and Horizon Solutions offer technology to help minimize contaminates, including: fittings, fluoropolymer tubing, fluoropolymer valves, liquid flow measurement and flow control. Learn more about high purity products and view the exact specifications here.

An LEFS slider, or rodless, type electric actuator features a load mounting platform situated above a ball screw drive. A flexible seal band permits platform movement while preventing grease and foreign matter from entering the drive. Advantages include a low profile height, shorter overall length than rod types, and better positioning repeatability than belt drives. The original LEFS slider features an inline motor with a cover. Because the motor drives the ballscrew directly, additional cost of a belt and pulley system is avoided.

Section 3). Automation Partner Solutions

Tiburon Laser Marking Machines from MECCO use ultra-short pulses to deliver three times the peak power of conventional fiber lasers. Metal surfaces vaporize more quickly and plastics absorb energy more easily, creating brighter marks with almost zero debris. Higher peak energy removes paint, anodization, and oxide 25 to 50 percent faster while brightening the base material significantly. Result: Higher-contrast marks; barcodes that scanners read more easily; and improved traceability throughout your process.

Elwood’s replacement motors for Rockwell Automation legacy servos are form, fit, and function replacements for the original motors Elwood now supports motors from F-Series, H-Series (which replaced S-Series), N-Series, W-Series, and 1326AS Series. These drop-in replacements make your MRO jobs that much easier to complete! Learn more about Elwood here. Elwood is a Rockwell Automation Encompass Partner.

Enhance your electrical safety program through safety-by-design with the SafeSide Voltage Test Station. The Voltage Test Station (VTS) is a Permanent Electrical Safety Device (PESD) that allows workers a safer way to verify presence or absence of voltage from outside the electrical cabinet.

Section 5). Whitepapers & Design Tools

Food and BeverageThe food and beverage industry is complex and rapidly evolving. Markets and tastes are changing. Consumers are more connected, informed and outspoken. Learn how smart manufacturing can help improve production in food and beverage operations — and how some companies are doing just that.

OEM Smart MachinesOriginal equipment manufacturers (OEMs) always have been expected to innovate and keep pace with end users’ requirements. Yet, today in the era of smart manufacturing, users want to optimize their production and supply chain by bringing together islands of information — and they want OEMs to help. Delivering on the promise of smart manufacturing is vital. This article can help OEMs meet end users’ needs for integrated machines that provide production intelligence and improve responsiveness to changing market demands.

Safety FunctionMachinery safety functions require multiple elements including a sensor or input device, a logic device, and an output device. Together, these elements provide a level of protection calculated by performance level as outlined in (EN) ISO 13849-1. Rockwell Automation has a library of safety function documents, each providing guidance for a specific safety function based on functional requirement, equipment selection, and performance level requirement, including set-up and wiring, configuration, verification and validation plan, and calculation of performance level.

Safety function documents include:

  • Presence sensing functions
  • Access & guard door functions
  • Emergency stop functions
  • Position & hand control functions
  • Process functions
  • Subsystem functions

machine safe guard safeguardingSafety does not have to come at the expense of productivity. Machine safeguarding can help increase overall efficiency. When you take the time to build a culture of safety – your success will show in reduced workers compensation costs and a prevailing attitude of commitment towards SAFETY FIRST. equipment upgrades modernizationEvery year, industrial facilities all over the world face the choice of maintaining their old equipment or replacing it with new technology. The decision to modernize includes some very important HOW, WHEN and WHY questions. Anita’s blog post helps users address some of these questions. Additionally, if you are considering an upgrade, Rockwell Automation does have online tools to allow end users to cross reference their vital components to see “life cycle status” as well as modernization options.

Determining the short circuit current ratings of a complete industrial control panel or control switchgear can be very challenging, especially if proper considerations are not made during the initial stages of the component selection process. The Global Short Circuit Current Ratings Selection Tool provides coordinated high fault branch circuit solutions for motor starters, soft-starters and component drives. The one-line “Bills-of-Material” provide coordinated high fault SCCR ratings for all power devices used in the circuit, saving you time and effort to find and determine these ratings. The data provided by the Global SCCR tool is based in compliance to IEC and UL standards.
