FactoryTalk® View Site Edition (SE) is a human machine interface software from Rockwell Software used to monitor distributed multi-user applications. The new Trend Pro functionality helps operators benchmark process data over specific time frames to see variability in temperature, energy consumption, steam, gas, etc. by allowing side-by-side trending of live data, historical data (historian), or data logs stored within the HMI itself.
Automation eNewsletterThere are some pretty harsh environments out there for electrical devices. Heat, humidity, dust, dirt, chemicals, wash-down, and more. These can all have an adverse effect on your critical equipment and controls. You don’t want a critical device or connection to fail!
ArmorBlock® I/O modules help you avoid that breakdown. They provide low-cost, hardened, I/O suitable for on-machine use. You can mount these modules on a machine close to the sensors and actuators to provide shorter cable runs.
The ArmorBlock® IO-Link master module gives industrial operators access to detailed sensor diagnostics in harsh operating environments. Available with water- and corrosion-proof plastic and nickel-plated aluminum sealed housing to offer a rating for IP69K and NEMA 4X (when marked) for use without an enclosure.
Automation eNewsletterStratix® 5700 Managed Industrial Ethernet Switches use the current Cisco® Catalyst® switch architecture and feature set. They are designed to meet your switching capability needs, from smaller applications to IT-ready integration with plantwide infrastructure.

  1. **NEW** Stratix 5700 Industrial Managed Ethernet Switches now offer redundant gateway and DHCP IP address assignment capabilities.
  2. Supports two switches on a single ring while connected to the rest of the network
  3. Offers DHCP IP address assignment to end devices on the DLR network to simplify device replacement
  4. Includes integrated Device Level Ring (DLR) connectivity which helps optimize the network architecture

Section 2). Automation Partner Solutions

VeriSafeThe VeriSafe™ ABSENCE OF VOLTAGE TESTER is a new product from Panduit®. This device minimizes risk by verifying the absence of voltage before equipment is accessed, making it easier for qualified electrical workers to identify an electrically safe environment in a fraction of the time needed required by hand-held portable test instruments.

Compliance with VeriSafe: Automated test sequence based on the steps in NFPA 70E for verification of an electrically safe work condition; automated test helps reduces operator errors

Improved Safety & Risk Reduction: Determine voltage status BEFORE equipment is accessed, prevents direct exposure to electrical hazards by personnel servicing equipment

Reliable Results with VeriSafe: Fail-safe design with active indications. Safety functions meet SIL 3 per IEC 61508-1

Many automation users need a highly integrated optical inspection tool for controlling quality and increasing productivity. Easy to use and inexpensive, Teledyne DALSA’s BOA comprises all the elements of an industrial machine vision system in a tiny smart camera style package. This quick video tutorial shows you how quick and easy it is to start using a BOA vision system.

  3. Modernization Services: What end-of-life type challenges do you face? How can we help?
Traceability MECCOWhen we hear “Traceability”, we think MECCO. This case study comes from MECCO and looks into the challenges faced by a manufacturer of power-management equipment and devices. The products being manufactured are high-volume electrical safety devices. Counterfeiting was an issue affecting the manufacturer’s bottom line. Market activity was being diverted away from authorized resellers into gray-market channels. A successful traceability solution from MECCO helped correct that issue

[pictured to the left] To disrupt gray-market and counterfeit channels, this manufacturer adopted innovative, tamper-proof laser marking.
